Portrait of Ariel Shefi

Ariel Shefi (b. 2000) is a painter currently based in Vienna. She studied drawing, sculpting, and painting at Haneviim Atelier in Haifa, Israel, from 2018 to 2021. Since 2021 Ariel is pursuing her studies at the Akademie der bildenden Künste in Vienna, where she is part of Daniel Richter's class.

Ariel's work delves into themes of love, belonging, projection, sexuality, and loneliness, while also examining the intricate relationship between humans and their environments. By employing symbolism, humor, and expressive techniques, she seeks to unravel the complexities of human nature and explore our place within the natural world.

She has participated in various exhibitions in recent years; Water Mark (2024) — a solo show at Bread and Roses, Tel Aviv. Freaks (2025) — a group exhibition at Galerie Krinzinger, and more. Her exhibition Inhale ⇄ Exhale (2022), with Omri Batkilin, at Alfred Institute, Tel Aviv, got a positive review in Haaretz newspaper.
